A very, very ex-friend of mine who feigned their embarassing music taste and bought bad ass Iron Maiden band shirts to hide beneath in hopes of concealing their true identity is actually the source of this next pick of the day (2nd pick actually). How can you be that ashamed of who you really are and what you like? No one gives a shit unless you try to hide it.
And yes, i do my fair share of insulting but only in good company and never to be rude.
I've just never understood something about people that lie about what they listen to, i mean, everyone has a dusty Ace of Base CD or Radiohead CD lying around somewhere that they pop in every once in a while. I have Fiona Apple and The Scorpions and The Strokes (Is This It? album...) on my iPod and never hesitate to defend their honor if it comes up in music conversation. I mean, if music makes your tummy flutter, regardless of what it is, it's something that you connect with personally. Everyone has a whole selction of less than average artists/musicians in their collection that they have bonded with somewhere over the years.
Aaaaanyway, off track here. This ex-friend of mine had a few diamonds amongst the dregs of their collection and of them was, "The Builders and the Butchers".
This past year, i've fallen madly in love with them. Their lyrics are great, they're music is dark but catchy and pulls the strings to that spot that gets little attention when you're negative. I can't truly explain it but, they're extremely talented with their melodies and words. They don't overdo it but, they certainly go beyond average.
You can listen to them when you're angry, when you're happy or maybe if you were about to kill someone. Who knows? I'm just saying, they do it for me.
So here ya' go, the 2nd pick of the day:
The Builders and the Butchers - Spanish Death Song
&
The Builders and the Butchers - Vampire Lake
(it's the buildup of the horns in this song; gets me every time)
